Early in the morning we set off for Shumnatitsa — a small Rhodope village nestled among hills and silence.

The road wound between green slopes and stone houses.

In the center, the old stone bridge was there to greet us.

Its curved arch was mirrored in the clear water below.

On the other side, the restored Karadzheyka watermill was waiting.

The creaking of the wood, the murmur of the water — everything here speaks of a life that carries on at its own rhythm.

Shumnatitsa leaves you with one simple feeling — that some places aren’t meant to be looked at, but lived.
