Sarafovo Fishing Port

The calm of the shore, the swaying boats · 24 June 2026 · 3 min read
Swaying fishing boats and a sense of peace that's hard to put into words.

Today I decided to pop over to the fishing port in Sarafovo — one of the most modern and beautiful fishing ports on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. And although it’s just minutes from Burgas, it feels like another world.

A walk along the pier opens up beautiful views of the Black Sea, swaying fishing boats and a sense of peace that’s hard to put into words. The air smells of salt and nets, seagulls circle above the boats, and the fishermen sort through the morning’s catch.

Why It’s Worth It

Sarafovo is proof that adventure isn’t always in the mountains. Sometimes it’s 15 minutes from home — as long as you step out and look with fresh eyes.

  • The pier — the best walk at sunset
  • Fresh fish — straight off the boats in the morning, or in the nearby seafood restaurants
  • Sarafovo beach — quieter than the central Burgas beaches
  • By bike — there’s a lovely seaside path from the center of Burgas all the way here

For us Burgas locals, the sea is a given we sometimes forget to notice. Days like this remind me not to.
