Ananuri

Georgia · 13 April 2026 · 2 min read

From the moment I left Tbilisi, I had a feeling this day would be different.

The road wound gently upward, following the curves of the mountain.

When I reached Ananuri, time seemed to stand still. The stone walls of the fortress rose proudly above the frozen waters of the Zhinvali Reservoir.

I wandered through the fortress courtyard, touched the old stones, and tried to imagine how many stories they hold.

As I was leaving, I felt grateful to have been there.
