Ustrem Monastery

The Ustrem Monastery of the Holy Trinity — a hideout for many hajduk rebels!

It stands near the village of Ustrem, in the Topolovgrad municipality, Haskovo province.

Today the monastery is a small but very cozy complex.

Among the soft hills of Sakar it appeared suddenly — modest, white and serene.

The moment I stepped through the gate, I felt time slow down. The air was thick with the scent of grass and incense, and the courtyard was quiet and tidy.

I sat for a while and understood something simple — peace isn’t something you find, it’s something you let in.
