Pliska

When I set off for Pliska, I didn’t expect this place to make me feel so proud to be Bulgarian.

The moment I arrived, I sensed a special kind of silence — not an ordinary one, but the kind that seems to guard the memories of centuries.

Walking among the ruins of the former capital, I pictured the majestic palaces and fortress walls that once rose here. It’s hard to believe that this very spot was the first capital of Bulgaria.
